Two DIY Natural Toothpaste and Tooth Powder Recipes

DIY toothpaste recipes

While conventional toothpastes are effective at cleaning away plaque and making our mouths taste minty fresh, the harsh ingredients used can be damaging to our health. Ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulfates, fluoride and saccharin has been called out for being carcinogens. And the synthetic dyes, flavors and sugars added can negatively alter the PH balance of the mouth which can weaken the enamel, inflame the gums and cause further oral damage. The obvious solution would be to make the switch to a all natural brand of toothpaste such as Toms of Maine. However, if you are a DIYer like myself, you may want to make your own homemade toothpastes.

Natural, organic homemade toothpastes are easier to make than you may think. The two simple recipes below contain ingredients that can help cleanse the mouth while also detoxing, whitening, strengthening the teeth and gums and re-mineralizing.
