Hot oil treatments are used  as a pre-shampoo to help restore damage inflicted from the use of chemicals, dyes and heat. Homemade hot oil treatments are easy to make, natural and inexpensive. This simple recipe combines jojoba oil, rosemary essential oil and sunflower oil- these three oils are effective at restoring moisturizing and strength to dull and damaged hair. Rosemary essential oil is said to stimulate the hair follicles and deter hair loss as well as graying.

 Ingredients and Equipment:

Directions:

  • Combine all three oils in your medium bowl and mix
  • Transfer to a microwavable container until ready to use

How to use:

  • Warm oil in the microwave (Test on wrist before applying to hair to avoid burning)
  • Massage mixture onto your dry hair from root to scalp and then cover hair with a shower cap or plastic bag
  • Let oil sit in your hair for at least 15 minutes
  • Shampoo out with the aid of a natural shampoo
