A delicious alternative to dairy milk, coconut milk is made from the flesh of the nut – it has been a staple in the tropics for thousands of years, and is used both internally and externally for its extreme wellness properties. Coconut milk has been praised for being an excellent source of calcium, fiber, iron and potassium as well as vitamins C, E, B1, B6, B5 and B3. It can also help to balance blood sugar levels, strengthen feeble bones, correct GI issues, reduce inflammation, balance skin PH and promote a healthy prostate. Today, commercial coconut milk is widely available for purchase alongside its dairy counterpart, however, most commercial coconut milk contains synthetic additives that take away from its nutrition. The best way to reap all the natural goodness that coconut milk has to offer, is to make it yourself.
