I was a little skeptical when my box of Instead Softcup reusable menstrual cups came in the mail. The thought of an internal menstrual cup sounded invasive, messy and a bit scary (seriously, what if it got stuck in there). Nevertheless my research on Softcup eased my mind a bit so I gave it a try.
Instead Softcup is the earth friendly flexible reusable menstrual cup that is worn internally around the cervix. The menstruation is collected in the cup instead of being absorbed like a tampon. It can be worn for up to 12 hours and one cup can be reused throughout one menstrual cycle. It is made with BPA free, hypoallergenic, non-toxic, latex free material. This cup can be worn during exercise, intercourse and sleeping, it is not linked to Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) and it doesn’t alter the body’s pH levels.
I have to admit, I was very tense and nervous the first time I tried the softcup, so insertion was not pleasant, but once it was in, I felt nothing, and now I am pretty much a pro .To wear Softcup, you insert slowly with clean hands in a seated position, the cup will fall into place under cervix. And, to remove you hook finder under rim of cup, bear down and pull slowly. Then you empty the cup into toilet.
I love the fact that I didn’t have to worry about changing Softcup for a whole 12 hours and that It cuts down on menstrual waste by up to 95%.
