Undernourishment refers to persons who do not have access to the foods that provide the necessary nutritional properties that would ensure optimal health and wellness. Proper nutrition plays a very important role in the development and growth of children, having adequate protein and minerals will strengthen immune system and safeguard against disorders and disease. However presently in the world today there are approximately 2 billion people who are undernourished and suffering from disorders associated with it.

Future Fortified is a global nutrition campaign launched by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Future Fortified exists to increase access and improve nutrition globally to those who need it, especially pregnant women, young children and new mothers. Presently they are paying special attention to the most undernourished areas in Kenya, Bangladesh and South Africa.

Future Fortified provides nutritional aid by way of home nutrition packets. These tiny single serve packets are filled with a combination of up to 15 micronutrients that are sprinkled on prepared foods a few times a week to encourage increased nutrition. These packets are inexpensive costing as little as $0.03 and are available in rural areas in Kenya Bangladesh and South Africa by means of health programs, local businesses and pharmacies.
